New to the craft

Hello all,

I am new to this board and brand new to leather craft, but my intent is to make leather knife sheaths. I need someone I can discuss the process with, easpecially when it comes to design and measuring. I learn by the socratic method so anyone who could converse with me through this forum it would be much appreciated!

Welcome to the forum!!

You will find out that there are a lot of guys and gals on here that are Masters in their craft and very willing to help out.

Until you get a reply from one of them, I would suggest you use the SEARCH option in the forum. Just type in the topic you would like to know more about, I believe you will be surprised with the knowledge and info that you will find.

Jeff

Welcome Tobi
Lot of great info up in the "Sticky" section as well. As Jeff said, lots of great talent to learn from here, so don't be timid with questions. Pictures always help with visualizing problem issues, so psot if you can.

There are several terrific sheathmakers that drop by here from time to time. A couple of them, Chuck Burrows and Paul Long, have terrific videos that I highly recommend.

You might also try hooking up on leatherworker.net. Lots of good info and leatherworking folks on there.

Thanks for the tips! I'll take your suggestions. I hope to finish my first project within another week or so. Then I'll post some pics.
