Thanks Capt. Chris for taking up this cause.
Hopefully it will produce the intended results! I know you are pressed for time but a photo of your Stanaback Special could entice some entries from folks that don't necessarily have an interest in this case. I will be sending a link to this forum to Chief Mike Vansant of the Shreveport Police Department. He probably knows some Randall Knife enthusiast. You can read more about John and the re-opening of Herby-K's here in this Shreveport Times article: http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/...WS01/608050323 __________________ Tom Welch RKS #4868 NRA & TSRA Life Member Deep East Texas Life Resident (so far) Last edited by tomthbomb; 10-26-2006 at 11:00 AM. |

Hi Tom et al!
The Randall the Captain is raffling off for this cause is described near the top of this thread. Here's a quote from Cap: Quote:

calling Moosehead....need help!
I ran into a problem trying to promote the raffle.
I was composing an email to send to friends of John Bean, Randall collectors and folks that don't know John or Randalls but will donate $25 because I tell them they should. I was going to include a link to this forum so they could read about what we are trying to do. I checked it first to be sure it would work. It does not. Seems you have to be a member to read the forum. Is this so or did I do it wrong? __________________ Tom Welch RKS #4868 NRA & TSRA Life Member Deep East Texas Life Resident (so far) |

Calling for more help!
Hi Tom!
I tried to access the forums in the "Log Out" mode and could only read the thread titles in any of the forums. When I tried to read the posts on any thread, I got this message: You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons. Some features on KnifeNetwork.com are only accessible by subscribed members. http://www.knifenetwork.com/forum/payments.php 1. You are not logged in. Fill in the form at the bottom of this page and try again. 2. You may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system? 3. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation. The administrator may have required you to register before you can view this page. I didn't know that one has to register to be able to read the posts. I will try and find out if this is the case. In the meantime, maybe someone else can help clue us us. Cheers! ...I think there are many people who would not sign up for this forum or most any forum for that matter until they had spent a little time reading posts and getting a feel for the tone of the forum. I had thought that anyone could read posts here but only registered logged in members could post. It seems to me that that would be the best way to set the forum up to encourage new members and at the same time keep the spams and trolls to a minumum. Now I just have to reread the thread to figure out where to send some money for this worthy cause and chance to win a beautiful knife.

Having to sign up to participate will limit the donations. Hope we can circumvent this or have an alternate way to allow non-Randal fans to donate.

Hey Tom,
Why don't you post it on the RMK Forum? I'm sure they would welcome this cause. Brassback |

Just think we could include more folks in the raffle.
We all want to win a Stanaback Special for a few bucks but the purpose is to raise money to catch a killer. Right? I'll call Capt. Chris tomorrow too see if he has any suggestions. __________________ Tom Welch RKS #4868 NRA & TSRA Life Member Deep East Texas Life Resident (so far) |

Just create another account yourself & give them (the people who won't sign up) the account name & password. Then after the Raffle close the account. See Ya, Chief __________________ See Ya, Chief David Francis |
