Forged Damascus Hunter

I don't post many up here, but this is one of my first using damascus. The steel is from Del Ealy and is 1095/15n20 random pattern. Sure nice steel to forge and shows a heckuva pattern. The handle is a piece of north Ga. walnut with super figure and pattern, stainless guard, buffalo horn spacer and stainless pin. Over all it's 9" with the blade being 3 7/8" to the ricasso. Like to see what y'all think.

Beautiful knife Rick. Very clean! How did you finish the handle?

Thanks Dave. The handle was sanded to 400 grit and then 0000 steel wool. I put a light coat of sandable sealer on to fill the larger pores in the walnut. Finally another steel wool rub and several coats of good wax. Buffed out it really has a ton of depth.

Rick

Everything about that knife is beautifully done.

I especially like shape of the gripp and the use of walnut.

I feel that walnut is not used nearly enough in the knife world. And your particular application is TOP of the line in design and execution.

I like the looks of that one Rick. I always have liked walnut and that is a good looking piece.

Told you brother Rick!
How could they not like it?
Did some extra testing with the piece of damascus you gave me. Much improved with the 15 deg boost.
Now I just got to get a handle on it.
Great work.

Really nice Ricky! How large was the blank that you got from Delbert? It looks like you did a really good job of forging it on out.

Thanks to everybody for the comments. Robert this came from a stick 1"X1/4"X9". I cut it roughly in half for this one. The other section has become two smaller, slimmer blades including a blacksmith style with twisted handle.
