Before I start replacing things?
I thought I would ask before I just open up the check book. I got up this morning to find that my monitor is playing games. Anywhere there is a graphic or line of text, I get a faint gray line extening to both sides across the screen. Would this be a trouble in the monitor or could it be something else in the CPU?

could be your graphics card. I would suggest trying another (borrowed) monitor on your computer and see if you have the same problem.
...and merry Christmas! |

Don, you now of what you speak.
I just ried another monitor and still have the same results. Any idea of how to test a graphics card? T |

Terrill, I guess I'd buy one from Comp USA or some other local retail outlet, plug it in and see if it solves the problem. If not, you can return it, and go to plan B.
Plan B: to be determined, but might include taking the box to a service center if you are not handy with electronics, or depending on the age of your computer, possibly replacing it with something newer. Refurbs with 2GHz processors or better are available in the $300-400 range. |

Terrill, I just replaced my Graphics card a few months ago due to that same problem exactly. Much better now.
Best of luck ! Shane |

I have been lagging a bit. Since this machine isn't the one I use for photographs, I have not jump on it yet. First of the week and I should be able to let you know.
