I've gotten some movement on a project, I'm pleased with the outcome. Here is the only pic I took of it before handing it off to have a sheath made for it, but hopefully you get the idea! More to come..

Troy, Your shop looks great! I can't wait to come up and check it out!

My first attempt at anything leather !!
It was our 25th anniversary and I got her a fine silver pen. It did not come with any
type of carrying case. (You would think anything THAT expensive, it would have at least
a pouch with it). I told her I wanted to make her one. Studied up on stitching, knowing that
my sheath making days are coming, my first stitched product.

And her silver (well, looks silver) paring knife that she has been wanting for a year now.

Met a guy this week that was a sales rep for Buck knives for 40 years. He took me to his
home and showed me his collection ... HOLY **** !!!! Never seen soooo many knives in
one room. His room was 30'x50' stacked 6 shelves high, all hanging, and NOT a space inbetween.

We hit it off pretty good. He took me to his barns and showed me all the wood that he has
for rehandling Buck knives. Amazing. He said he had approx. 30,000 board feet of lumber
that has all been kiln dried and stacked for over 15 years. As I was leaving, still breathless,
he ask if I want some of his wood to take home and try ... well ... I guess

This batch is burl birch oak and is the heaviest wood I have ever held. The bottom pieces
are burl black walnut.

The then gave me these beautiful boards of black walnut:

He told me when I use these all up, stop back by to talk shop and pick out some more !!!
What a great month for wood !!!

The new addition to my shop. Been watching Craigslist for a couple of months for a score.
Score came today. Called the guy to see how fast he wanted to sell it. Found out it was his
friends and he just wanted it out of his garage after sitting there for a year. Too embarrassed
to say how much I didn't pay him ...

Cut my first set of scales from the birch oak given to me last week:

Got some work done today
Dry fitted a knife set I'm working on.
Just need to clean up the blades, glue, and shape.

Handle: Burl Walnut, SS spacers, Curly Maple spacer, and Cocobola front:

Short video of my grinder. I have fixed the tracking issue visible in the last few moments.
