MY FIRST FOLDER

I already see where I need to make some changes and improvements. It isn't even finished yet, I still have to add the thumb stud and grind a relief for the stud and to make it easier to get to the liner lock and the near side scale is a little thick, but I'll fix all of that. I got it together and it works and locks up like it is supposed to, so I snapped some quick pics just incase I mess it up when I go back and work on it some more.

Looks fine Mike, that's what it's all about learning as you go.

Regards from Australia.

Looks great Mike. You did a good job and I doubt you will mess it up finishing it. For some reason I would bet you go slow from here on out until it is perfect. Just a guess but I bet I'm right. Congrats......

I will be starting my first folder soon. Kinda anxious to get started but have to finish my press first.

Yes Neil that is cable damascus, I went with it so I could heat treat it myself and wouldn't have to send it out. I normally use stainless on my fixed blades, but I was kind of anxious to get this one done. I have a ATS-34 blade ground that is exactly like the blade on this knife that I will send out, guess it will be the next folder.
I will have to say though that these small folder blades are hard on the thumbs, that thin material heats up fast.
I also want to thank both Neil and Jason for their tutorials, without them I probably would have never figured it all out.
Thanks guys,
Mike

Folder

Yea,

Those Darrel Ralph kits sure do make it easy to fit up a blade and scales.

Re: Folder

Jim Bob,
While this knife is a copy of one of the kits, and I did use the pivot and clip from one of the kits I'll assure you that every other part of the knife was made by ME.
You know what they say about assuming something.

for the kit are perfect..why make other ones...
