Summer Meeting
It's time to get serious about your plans to attend the Summer meeting of the Georgia Guild. It will be held on August 29th at the shop of John Costa south of Watkinsville. John has a fantastic shop built for forging and knife making. The meeting will be the same as always with the Board meeting starting at 8:00 and concluding when President Scott runs out of stuff to say. Usually around 9:00 to 9:15. The general meeting follows and after that we get into the demonstrations. I understand that Brian Goode is doing one on heat treating and maybe John will chime in on what else is in store.
The demonstrations will be followed by lunch and the drawings for the "iron in the Hat". This is how we pay John for lunch so bring some stuff for the table that you might not need but the someone else might find useful and buy lots of tickets. The more money we make the better we eat and if John has his smoker going you won't want to miss lunch. Wayne Hensley has donated a Hawk for the John Poythress Scholarship fund drawing so be sure to purchase several tickets for that drawing. Wayne is Vice President of The Knifemaker's Guild and a Hawk is an unusual project for him and should be very interesting. As always it is easier to plan for the crowd if you know how many are coming. Please respond to this thread if you are planning on attending or contact John directly. Directions to the shop should be posted on the Georgia Custom Knifemaker's Guild web site. Last edited by Harry Mathews; 08-06-2009 at 06:43 PM. Reason: add information |

Thanks Harry,
The meeting will be at the new shop in Watkinsville. At the intersection of US 441 and GA 15 and Barnett Shoals Rd . Head east on Barnett Shoals. When you cross the RR track take a Rt. Big warehouse on the left. You can't miss it. I'll try not to let you down on lunch ! Also , I'm going to put an add in the local paper and bill this as a mini knife show. We will have some tables set up or bring your own if you like. Maybe you can sell a few. Anyone coming early ( Friday ), I'll be around the shop. Also there is a new Marriott close by. Email me if you need more info. johncosta53@gmail.com jc __________________ IF YOU DON'T STAND FOR SOMETHING YOU'LL FALL FOR ANYTHING.... GEORGIA CUSTOM KNIFEMAKERS GUILD / CHARTER MEMBER |

John I wish I was going to be able to make it to the meeting but it doesn't look like I am going to be able to. I was looking forward to seeing the new shop. The last new one was fantastic. After the last smoked bar-b-q you had I was really looking forward to lunch. Hope y'all have a great meeting. Hope to see everybody at Trackrock in September.

Hey guys , i will be there this time ,its to hot to go hog hunting now . I think besides Brian Goode's demo , Stephen is working on a demo about the shape of handles and the reason behind the shapes . Possibly another demo , we will see what time allows . I hear John has a new toy to play with at his new shop .
Thanks Harry for starting this thread , i slipped on getting it put up . I hope you can make it the 29th . Scott __________________ Scott Davidson |
