up-side-down neck sheath

Can anyone help with design considerations for an small knife, upsidedown, neck sheath. I sort of understand the idea of a cammed welt to lock the blade in, but my attempts to shetch before cutting what I think it should actually be like have failed. It there's a thread I didn't find or faq or someplace else to look, Id sure appreciate being pointed in the right direction. Thanks. J

AT - I haven't forgotten about doing a post on an adjustable welt.

On the other hand for an upside down sheath - even though I do not make them - I would suggest using a magnet for retention - do a search for magnets, magnetic sheaths, etc and you will find quite a bit of info on using them for necker sheaths.

Thanks, Chuck. I'll try the magnets, but will appreciate your thoughts on the welt, too--sometime. As usual, you provided most helpful info, and got me moving down the road. Jay

Jay -- if you want to experiment with magnets, try taking an old computer hard-drive apart. Insde you'll find 2 rare earth magnets (some have 4 I'm told) which are very strong and fairly thin. Most computer repair places just throw the old drives away. Beats googling for them on the web and waiting for the mail

Hey Mike-- Does that mean no one gets out? As you suggested, my computer guy gave me magnets from hard drives, and 2 little square ones from a CD player, perfect for what I needed.

Onward! Thanks J

Glad to pass it on J -- definitely not a new idea with me, just something someone told me in another post a while ago. That's one of the fun parts about the forums -- being able to pass it on

Heheheh-- everyone gets out sooner or later -- just not alive
