A.g. Russell sting-i and ii

Hi fellow knife nuts, lately I have noticed several A. G. Russell Sting-I and Sting-II boot knives for sale on e-bay and in the description they always start out with similar wording, (For sale 1977 A.G. Russell boot knife). This is very misleading to the bidders, since every Sting made has A.G. Russeii 1977 stamped on the recasso. A.G. designed the Sting in 1974 and the first Sting went into production in 1977. The one piece blade was made in Solingen Germany using 400 stainless steel and shipped to A.G.'s shop in Springdale, Arkansas where the handle were attached. However there is a way to ID the first several production runs of the Sting, according to Mr. Russell. The oval stamp on the blade is blank in the center and Russell is misspelled with only one L on the recasso. The rarest Sting is the Green rucarta & micarta scales and the most comman is the one with Rose wood scales. If any one knows of a collector who has several Sting's and wants to trade or sell; they can call me at 870-793-4787 or e-mail me at
