Post Really Sad,sad News

Thom up here -
Crystal called us at 5:30 this morning to say that Ron Ellis had died..
Roc was fighting a nasty bunch of cancer and getting radation treatments..
He seemed to be doing well..
We stayed in touch all last week up till Thursday..
He was with her when his time came...
This is soooo sad because Roc didn't want any of the knife crew to know " so they wouldn't throw an auction for me "..
He was that kinda guy..
As I learn more; I'll post here..
I hope you will spread the word to the other forums.
PAX VOBISCUM
Rest in Peace - Brother Roc...

I am speachless...

I considered Roc one of my leading mentors here. I was just talking with him the other day! He was selling a very valuable tattoo machine on ebay--sent me the link since we shared that profession.

He said he was "a little sick"... just like him to down-play it.

It's taking me way too long to type this because I'm just dumb-struck...

I was gonna get a tattoo last summer while on vacation near his shop and I couldn't make it... we never got to meet...

Ron Ellis = hammerdownnow

Hi Thom,

Thank you for sharing the news. Like you and all the rest, I am stunned. No, I hadn't a clue. Absolutely one of Knife Networks most proliferous and valuable contributors.

I need to process this and say my peace in private. He will be sadly missed.

Prayers for his wife.

Coop

Thanks for the heads up Thom. I'm at a loss for words, but I feel the need to post something. Roc will be missed, that goes without saying. I'll miss seeing him post on a regular basis.

He hid it very well for I also didn't know. Like Thom said, he wanted it this way. This is a very sad day indeed.

Oh, man....

I spent Thursday evening talking with Roc on Paltalk. He was upbeat that the treatments were going to get the tumor shrunk enough to ease the pain soon. We talked about life, and we talked about knives, and he shared a YouTube link of his son throwing knives. We laughed together at some flake who stumbled into the room and ended up singing us the "Barney song". I expected to talk to him again tomorrow night.

I'm just stunned.

Rest in Peace, Brother. Thank you for the joy you added to my life.

Oh my God......

I um.... wow.......

Talk about a shock.

Andy hit the word I'm looking for; Mentor. To me, and to anyone who asked anything of him. Roc was always encouraging, helpful and friendly. This forum and the knife makers comunity is a great deal poorer at his loss.

Peace to you my friend. You'll be missed.....

Gary

Ron was definately one of our great citizens. He helped me track down a knife and worked dilligently to share knowledge. I only knew him through the forms and will miss him. He will remain an example to us all.
RIP my friend and God please bless his family and friends.
Ed

As Mike ,Im in complete shock, i just talked to him last night, in fact his ID is still showing online as we speak. We talked night before last after everyone left paltalk for 3 or 4 hours alone about casting pewter and other various things he and I enjoyed, heck I had just added him to the paltalk knifemaker page that night. He truelly loved knifemaking and all knifemaking nomatter what genre or quality he always found somthing good to say. #### I am in complete and utter shock..

A good man. I talked with him before and he was a lot of fun to talk to. He designed a tattoo for me, now I really want to get it. Too bad it can't be him to put it on.

RIP my friend.

Like the rest of you, I had heard from him within the last couple of days. I can't help but feel he was touching base with everyone he could one last time. I will miss him terribly...

Man, this sucks. I had no clue that it was this serious. I drew to receive a knife from him in the fighter KITH, he e-mailed to say he was feeling ill, and couldn't get the one he was working on finished right away, and offered a knife he had a number of people wanting to buy. I told him that the friendship was worth more than the knife, and to send me one when he could get back to the shop, now I am really glad I did that.

I also have a tattoo that he designed for me, I tend to be slow to get them inked, but he designed them to match the one on my back.

Please let his wife know he will be missed, the passing of a great man.

Crystal came in Paltalk a little while ago. She is freaked out, of course, but sounds like she's hanging in there. The family was coming over this afternoon to plan arrangements.

She asked for this link.
