Ka-bar stag handled hunter

Gentlemen,
came into possesion of a well worn but with much life left Ka-bar sheath knife.
the blade is marked KA-BAR on one side & Olean, NY. on the other but cant at this time make out the company name. The handle is what I would call coke bottle shaped with a pewter or maybe nickle silver pommel in which the rectangular tang can be seen.
The scales are dark brown stag or bone with wavy "s" pattern jigging. The cross guard is brass. I don't have the sheath. Any opinions welcome as to what I have. Dont want to use it if its collectable. TIA
Kent

Sounds interesting. Any way to get a pic or a scan up?

Hammerdown,
yeah, should be able to get a pic although i've never been able to make an image small enough 100kb or under to post on these forums. I could send it to private email or post here if i could figure out how to do it.

Any basic paint or draw program should be able size your pics. usually one comes with every computers programs. Your internet provider has set aside some free web space for you to upload your pics to.(took me about 5 years to figure that out) The easy way to do it is to choose a picture hosting site like photo bucket or if you have a yahoo account click on the "my photos" icon on your home page. Both will lead you step by step to upload pics to the web. Then you can post a link to the pic here. I just stumble around trying this and that like a monkey at a typewriter, and I make something happen now and then. If you email me a pic to tattooroc4q2@yahoo.com I will post it for you.
