Where to get 1x30 belts?

I caught the thread about the little 1X30 belt sander from homier, and was wondering how common that size belt is, or if quality belts are available in that size?

I'm not familiar with that size at all. If it were me, I'd stick to the standard sizes--1x42, 2x72 etc. IT will make your life easier in the long run.

i got rid of my 1x30 just cause avaiability of belts was a problem.

they don't last as well as tje 1x42 and cost is very similar.

woodcraft or klingspor will probably have belts for it.

I get my 1x30's at Sears Hardware, True Value Hardware & Koval Knives. About $2 each and come in many grits. They are great for small parts or as a beginner's belt sander.

I know alot of guys who make folders and autos who love 'em, but you won't be grinding any bowies or swords with it. For $20 you can't beat 'em.

If you got $$$$$$$$ get a 1x72

I don't got $$$$$$$

Enco has good norton and kingspoor belts from 24-320 grit for like 25-40 cents each I get most of mine from them and the rest from pops (400 and 600 grit) I think the last time I ordered from pops they were $1.10 ech or so.

1"X30"............

I just have to put in my $.02 worth on this one..................

The ONLY belts I have ever used has been a 1" X 30".
My finances have not yet allowed me to have a larger grinder and while it may not be the first choice,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the one by thirties WILL make a good knife. And You can make any size knife you wish with it. I made a 9" bladed, full tapered tang bowie with mine. (The knife went to desert storm with a friend......oth knife and friend came home,,,,,,,,,,, Battle Proven!) I also made a 23"blade Gladius with it.

I usually get my belts at Ace Hardware, they either have or will order them in most any grits that I want. No, they will not last as long as some bigger belts (from what I have heard) but you can, with care and the extra time, make any knife you want with it. I have also used this beltsander to do a lot of repair work over the years.

I currently have a Delta and it is ok, but there are others out there that I like much better adn the Delta is designed for vertical use only and I prefer the ones like the Blackand decker that you can adjust to anything from vertical to horizontal.

So as any artist will tell you, it is not the bruse, not the paint. It is what comes from within!

Well ROCK ON FALCONHAWK!
I believe in the "art / heart" myself.
It ain't the price or the size of the tool...
it's how you use it.

Hey, Brothers, leave us not forget... half of the NT-M's tradition is learning to make shine-ola from s#!t.

Riggin friggin Homier doesn't ship to Alaska. Oh well, I've been leafing through Wayne Goddard's $50 knifeshop, and figure I'll just have to go for a home grown, and while I'm at it, I might as well go 2X72 to take advantage of the better belts.

Time to go scrounging for motors!
