#12-8 "Big Bear" in Rosewood

Hi all!

I thought you would like to see this recent addition to my collection, which came directly from the shop.

It's a Model #12-8" "Big Bear" Bowie with a single finger grip handle in shop supplied Rosewood and all nickel silver hardware. These photos don't do it justice.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers!

David

David

Great looking knife. As well excellent photographs. Do you use a light "tent"?

Will you be using this knife to kill mosquitoes in the next month or so. I know they get fairly large in your part of the world!!!

Fabio, Rob and Rod, thanks very much!

I really like it too!

I actually ordered this knife from the shop in January 2003! (Note this thread was started five years ago, and thanks you Fabio for bringing it back to the surface.) I received it in four years later and it is indeed a favourite if mine.

The Rosewood was shop supplied. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe this knife no longer falls within today's five option limit.

I love the blade grind "Big Bear." At the 2005 Blade Show there was a fellow who only collected this model and had a display of over sixty "Big Bears", each with a different kind of exotic handle. Really spectacular!

Rod, you know our mosquitoes are quite large, but I think I will be able to handle them with just a "Little Bear"!

Cheers!

David

Hi Rod!

I forgot to answer your more serious question. No, I didn't use a "light" tent to take the photos, just natural light under a cloudy sky.

I actually used to own a "heavy" tent made of canvas and we took it on a camping trip to Florida in 1975, but that's another story.

Cheers!

David

Thanks David

The person who has all the Bear RMK still displays at Blade. Darn if I can remember his name.

I will try and take a couple of pics of his collection this year.

Rod,
I think the fellow that collects and displays the Big Bears is Jim Edwards from North Carolina. Tell him I said hi.
