Introducing myself
Newb alert!
Ive been around and had a passion for knives as long as I can remember. In times past ive made handles for mora blades but actually crafting a knife was beyond my skillset. Well around Christmas I made a few deals and got a small 1x30 sander, drill press, and bits to cobble a forge together. The results have been progressively better. Youtube channels like walter sorrells and chandler dickenson have helped alot.

Welcome! seems you caught the bug...if you need help with specific topic (like heat treating) just ask I am sure a bunch of us would try to help. Other than that I would sugest learn to Heat treat steel like 1084 or some other simple carbon steel that you can do in a forge. In that process there will be ups and downs and get ready to break some knives (on purpose) to see what it tells you....with out A good heat treat its just a knife shaped object....again welcome this is a very fun hobby

Gab, you might want to checkout the NC Knifemakers' Guild sub-forum here on KNF. Might be some of their members close to you that can help you out with the learning curve. Hands on beats U-tube any day.
Also if you are really getting into this, google Trackrock Hammer-in, Blairsville, GA. I put on a hammer-in twice a year at the Campground and you are welcome to come. Great learning environment. Next one will be end of Sept. I will be posting dates and particulars later this summer.
