Next dumb question

Watching videos on you tube i notice guys holding the edge face down and the edge face up which is the right way?

To do what? If you're talking about grinding the primary bevel, most of us start with the edge down on a worn belt just long enough to take the sharp corners off the steel. Then, using a fresh belt, turn the edge up so you can see the centerline and complete the grind .....

To Sharpen, but the bevel was my next question lol

If you're putting the initial edge on the blade you'd best be doing that edge down. Otherwise, you risk cutting into the belt and having your brand new knife slammed onto the floor, or worse, stuck in some part of your anatomy that you'd prefer remained unstuck ...
