Hi, I was wondering about how much i should pay for a bm44, a bm47, and a bm43? Any help would be appreciated.

The values really vary by condition.., but as a general rule you'll pay around $200+ for a Model 44.., they haven't been made in some time.

I've seen 'em go for over $300 MINT - In Box with Papers....

The 43 & 47 are more recent models of course. I'd say with some shopping you can pick one of each up for around $175 - $225 depending on condition.., spring latch or T-Latch..., and a little more if they are "First Production Run" - numbered.

Good luck! All very nice production knives!

I should also add that serrated models usually sell for a bit less than plain blades. They aren't near as popular with Bali-Folk.

thanks for the quick reply. Really helped me out. Now I just need to decide between the 43 and the 47. I know I'll get both eventually, but which one to buy first? decisions, decisions!

Yup.., there are so many nice models out there now..., that decisions are difficult.

I guess I'd suggest trying to get a nice 43 first. Seems like they are headed toward being the most collectible of the newer 4X-Series models.., and seem to bring a bit more money currently.

Really nice 44's are a bit more difficult to find.., but Benchmade produced a ton of them.., so you'll find one sooner or later.

Well, I was looking for a BM43 and what do I find? A first production Bradley Mayhem! I was pretty happy and I'm pretty sure I got a really good price. I paid $220 for it and on all the websites that I've seen it on it never goes under $250 for a regular version. So I paid a good price right?

Nope!! I actually got it from Knife-Auction.com . They've got some really good deals on there. I bought a double edge Arc-Angel from there for $130 just a few weeks ago. And now I'm hopefully getting a Szabofly, if the seller decides to sell it ( he still hasn't decided). So I'm gunna have to wait for my next paycheck to get the 43 i want.

Really good price on the A-A!

As you probably know they had some QC problems early on..., and I've heard some people say they still do.

I haven't seen that at all since about a year after the Arc Angels came out.....

I have several.., and they are all pretty darned good after the second run....

Good job....REALLY good price!

Ya, I've heard that about the A-A's but I've never experienced it, and I have two, a double edge and a clip point, and they are both great. The clip point is actually my favorite bali to flip with.
I recieved the Mayhem today too!! Its one great knife, and flips very smooth but it's my first curved bali, and I'm really not used to it. Just needa practice on it some more!

Yes.., anytime you break in a design with some arc in the handles.., there is an adjustment period.., and of course it effects rolls.., finger twirls....etc., more that some other standard stuff.

The Mayhem is a good knife for sure. I think that and the Model 32 "Morpho".., will be favorite EDCs for quite a few folks.

Have fun with it...

How about BM42's?

Hey you guys, I have a BM 42 Bali-Song with titanium handles and it is a pre production run knife. It's numbered on the knife and on the box (yeah, I have the box...) as number 137 out of 200.

The knife is in very good to excellent condition as I don't flip it or play a lot with it except when I want to admire it's beauty. Sharp as a razor and very tight and nice. Like I said, I have the box and the nylon carry sheath. The sheath is the only thing that might be in less than mint condition as it gets carried with me in my back pocket...sometimes.

Does anyone have an idea of what this knife might be worth if I was to sell it or let it go? I'm not sure I wanna do that but I may need to let a few extras from my collection go to be able to afford a few newer pieces. I'm really more interested in customs and one off knives and if I have to let some go I'd rather it be stuff like this that is really nice.

I know some guys are really hot for Balisongs...I really like this knife as it is about as good as they get for a production knife. If it has to go at least I'm sure I can get it into the hands of someone who will appreciate the fact that it is unique and has been cherished for the years I have had it.

Any clues as to what it might be worth on the open market? I have posted a few places on the 'Net asking for opinions. I'm just looking for a ball park idea here as I'm not really a balisong aficionado.

I'd have to say 150-200, but I'm not real sure.
