I looked at that one a long time, Sam. I came to the conclusion that the knife was legit, but made in Larson's basement and not by Northhampton. It is in near mint condition save some oxidation. IMO the sheath is a not by any of the known Randall makers or Mosser (Larson's sheathmaker). .

It appears that it doesn't have a Randall stamp, but has U S ARMY lettering under the carbon spots. I haven't seen that variation before.

Maybe a one-off by someone. The Springfield Randall stamp was stamped cold. Many could be barely seen. It also possible this one was never stamped. Everything else about the knife including the hilt spacer set is "Larsen basement" to a tee.

I checked out some of the sellers past eBay purchases, and they include items from knifemaking supply houses. I personally wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole.

For what it is worth (not much!), to me the knife does look legitimate, and Ron's validation is hard to deny. I'm actually encouraged that it does NOT have a RMK stamp, because that means there was no overt attempt at counterfeiting. The sheath however looks a lot like the sheaths that have accompanied the spate of counterfeit Randalls coming from Germany... except that it has no RMK stamp (again, a positive) and does have throat rivets.
The knife might be an interesting acquisition if the price is low enough., say 1/4 of what is being asked. Not Vietnam era, so not for me.

Thanks Ron, Bill and Jack all valid observations in my opinion too.
Jack, I thought the same thing about the sheath, it looks like those coming out of Germany.
Bill, interesting that you see his purchase history and that he has bought knife-making supplies. I will have to check that out.

The seller sold the exact knife a month earlier....either he has several of them, or the previous buyer wisely returned it. It's listed for $100.00 more this time around.
And I would swear that I saw ANOTHER exact one sell previously as well, and for less money that time.....
Buyer beware!
