Mini Rock Blasting system
This is my limestone abatement experiment from last two or three days. Using 45 long Colt cartridges almost full of powder, capped off with epoxy. Still needs some fine tuning.

Hi Mike,
Yeah, we need to look into explosive pattern welding . Would be much easier to stack-up and pull the pin than what we've been doing. I should have been making steel but we've had such nice weather lately it's real hard to stay in the shop. Matt |

Thats cool i like your ingenuity i have blasted a quite a few million tons of limestone usualy about 300 holes on a ten by ten pattern anyware from 20 to 40 feet deep.
What ever works for you a friend of mine blasted out his basement out of clay under his house with a similar technique. Here is a pic of one. Bob |

Hi Robert, Yeah I used to work with dynamite on construction jobs a long time ago. That is I think why this is so fascinating to me, the amount of work that tiny amount of gunpowder is doing. This is a cool shot I did yesterday, then played with the video.
Doug, I saw something a little like this online, they have proprietary charges and I have no idea how their firing system works. But yeah, I don't know of anyone doing it this way with modified pistol shells and a cobbled up firing system. Matt Last edited by Matt Walker; 11-27-2010 at 07:32 PM. |
