Hi Jim

Stunning as usual. You two guys make a great team.

I do have a question.............The gold work. Is that wire or inlay? or a combination of the both. I've seen the technique in "The art of Engraving by Meeks where he fills an area with wire only and I was wondering if you have done the same

Cheers
Andrew Biggs

Ron, I am sorry to report that we won't be neighbors this year. They moved my table assignment forward to 5H. I guess that means I can misbehave all I want!

Just beautiful Jim.. I like the photo too, shows them both nicely.. I'm sure these won't last long.. I especially like the bottom one with the cool Damascus, it, (the engraving), reminds me of the ocean for some reason.. (Could be because I have been working about 80 hrs a week down near the shore line, and my brain is waterlogged....)

Very pretty engravings, that accompany the fantastic knives by Cowles.
This joint work, will be appreciated by the good collectors and insurance who soon will have a new owner.

Great artwork by both of you talented gentlemen.
Thank you for showing them and have a great time in Atlanta.

PS. I agree with RBS. The engraving on the one knife does have the movement of ocean waves They are both outstanding. The one style of Damascus reminds me of the colored rocks in the Arizona desert. Beautiful!
John.

Don, for the dragonskin damascus , did you use Berties coloring recipe? I am having trouble finding one of the ingredients and was wondering if you used anything different.Gorgeous knives by the way!
thanks, Donald Bell

Donald, since I do not have a salt pot setup, I followed Bertie's counsel and had the blades hot-blued by a local gunsmith after I had completed the ginding, heat treating, and finishing of them. The results are nothing less than spectacular.

Mike, the one with the gold in the engraving is African blackwood (both sapwood and heartwood). The other one is black pen.
