I have never met anyone who used a jig to hollow grind, everyone I know freehand grinds hollow grinds...definitely safer in my opinion.

this thread would probably get more action in either the newbie or tool time forum, but here is a link to geno's jig thread: grinding jig __________________ wayne things get better with age ... i'm approaching magnificent |

I posted this info in 2000, and still get Emails about it every week.
This can fit any machine, it is simple and cheep. I hope it helps. Thanks Wayne for finding it for me again. Jay, if you have any questions about it contact me and I'll help any way I can(but I don't build them to sell). It has helped many get started. The Hunter video just shows it in use. |

I have a small 1" grinder I use to grind blades with and I can't get a large wheel for it ,so I made a curved platen for mine and use a piece of aluminum angle with the blade clamped to it.I have a shoe on the bottom acting as a stop against the table with reference marks where the edge of the belt is.I start slow and low(slow speed, low pressure)and I've had real good success with this setup.Maybe this will help someone,Chris L.
