Guild 2012 Fall Meeting Announcment - October 13th
Announcing the Guild 2012 Fall meeting. Mark your calendars!
Joe Sangster is our host for this meeting in Vienna, GA on Saturday, October 13th. This thread will be ?stickied? to keep it at the top of the thread list. Updates may occur periodically to this post and/or thread. Our meetings are open to the public. Demo Schedule: 1. The scrimshanders? amongst us are in a for a treat: James Mitchell will present scrimshawing in color? uhh, other than just black ink. 2. For the newbies and the faint of heart, Will Dutton will present making a simple knife sheath. But wait, there is more! Will will use his Boss sewing machine. And, there is more!! If you want to get a little hands on time with Will and the Boss, bring some scrap leather too! No guarantees you will finish a sheath. The purpose of the hands on time is to familiarize you with the Boss and its functionality. This may help you decide if the purchase of/investment in the Boss will meet your needs. 3. And, for you aspiring hammerheads/bladesmiths, Don Tommey will present on the fabrication of a stacked ISFB (insulated soft fire brick) forge. Scholarship Knife: Warren Glover has donated this knife for the John C Poythress Scholarship drawing. (See thumbnail below.) Directions to the shop: This link to the Guild website will contain the directions. http://georgiaknifemakersguild.com/modules/news/ Local motel/hotel accommodations: This link to the Guild website will contain the hotel listing. http://georgiaknifemakersguild.com/modules/news/ Questions? Jim Collins is again co-hosting this meeting as last time . I apologize for omission of the fact . He will also be co-hosting the Fri. nite social affair . We are looking forward to seeing everyone . Please RSVP as we hate to have any hungry friends around (and we are the only close options around ) !
