Im lost

Hi guys,

I'm trying to find a tutorial on installing a shield in a pocket knife handle. If I remember right there was one that talked about making some kind of hand operated cutting tool as well as a template to follow. I think it was a fairly dated method. I'm interested in the cutting tool part.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Thanks

Kirby Bletcher

Kirby, You might also try Great Lakes Waterjet. They actually make the shields and templates for most of the knife suppliers.

Kirby ,
Tracy used the Dremel with router attachment with template glued to the handle. he also commented on doing it free hand with template . I could not find the tutoral by Tracy . Might ask him where you can find it.

Kirby, I think you may be referring to a "parser". It looks like a bow driven breast drill and was used with a hardened steel template to inlet shields. There are few articles, pictures and videos around if you look.
