Blade Bushing Hardness
It?s along story but I wound up with an almost finished blade with a pivot hole that?s too large for the bushing. The only material I had that would work for a new bushing is some O1 round stock. I made a bushing and fitted it to the pivot hole, problem solved. I figure that since it?s O1 I should harden it but my question is how hard? Should it be as hard as the blade or softer? Will I need to worry about galling? How about just leaving it soft?
Thanks in advance for any input. Don |

The rule for galling using the same material is:
Hard to hard is good. Hard to soft is bad. Harden it fully and temper roughy the same as the blade. Or do as I do and go to a welding supply store and get yourself some bronze brazing rods to make bushings. |
