I'm still in the foamboard mockup stage, but then I don't usually exactly trace the pattern, just to get a few ideas. Also, I get married today, and it's my birthday. Big day?

Well yesterday and today got some things done but had to change my design some : (

Started off with this shape

Then did another and made a small knife to fit. The idea was to sandwich the knife and use a pretty handle (composite marble material - real pretty) to be almost like a jewel in a polished steel necklace. One saide was gonna be a mans side. Brass pins black g10 sheath material and the handle was a red and black composite marble with mosaic pins. A women could wear and flip it and have stainless steel with the brass pins and the handle on this side was a white and blue composite marble material. Basically same concept different materials. Unfortuanetly I realized weight was gonna be a issue and adjusting the design now to try and make the general concept work.

I did decide to hand file the whole thing instead of the normal grinder just to see what it is like and try something different. To be honest I know it sounds weird but Im understanding more what Im aiming for when grinding and some things I was doing wrong.

This weekend I got a blade rough cut and ground, and cut my thumb with a hacksaw. No decent pictures of either.

I'm real busy and still working on my B.S. so no promises but I'm stoked to give this thing a try. Wooden sheaths alright?

Also good tips on HT-ing 1095. I'll have to try that. Is that only for smaller blades?

This was the first and prob only blade (for awhile) I heat treated myself. Since its so small was easy to treat with a torch. 1095 btw

If it isn't too heavy to hang from a neck, I would imagine that would be just fine.

Also, I've got it bad. I am sitting at work, and my phone is dead, but has a picture of my roughed-out blade on it. I just want to charge it, so I can look at that picture. I might have a problem.

I dreamed all night long about a lockback I'm working on. Its my first and I didn't quite get the pieces to fit together perfect and it haunted my dreams.

Right now I have my neck knife heat treated, tempered, and all of the final grinding done. I'm just going to "polish" it up a bit more with a 120 grit belt and then it's ready for maker's marks. Then of course it will be on to the handle scales and pins, the sheat, and the sharpening.
