Howdy,
Attached is a grad school paper I wrote on martensitic phase transformations. It may be of some help to folks. thanks |

Nate, you're a student of ??
I've never heard the word "solutionize" 'to put into solution' is what I've aways heard and used. I wouldn't refer to martensite as diffusion prevention ! I think the nature and location of nucleation sites is already established. Sorry for being picky but I'm a metallurgist ! There are many martensite reactions - top of the line fencing swords use the Maraging alloys. SMAs [shape memory alloys] are an interesting case. We're still learning about steels an now that we can get 1 million magnification there are lots of surprizes !! We can find retained austenite in low carbon steel and in bainitic structures. One interesting source for information is Cambridge U in England. Search through their website . http://www.msm.cam.ac.uk/phase-trans...artensite.html Keep up the good work ! |
