Guild 2011 Fall Meeting Photos
Saturday, November 5th, on a day that dawned bright and clear with frost on the meadows, the Guild met at the home/shop of our host, Warren Glover, aka Bubba Knives, in Cleveland.
Warren thank you for hosting the meeting! It was a good meeting with clear, cool, sunny skies and the fall foliage was about at its peak! Guild members started arriving early and by about 9:30 we kicked off the meeting. Before we were able to kick off the meeting, the officers present juried in two new members! By noon, we had juried in six new members! The new members will be identified in the photos that follow. Warren arranged the demos for the day. Lead off demo was a friend of Warren?s, Lindsey Helton, a farrier by trade, who demo?d forging a spur from a farrier?s rasp. Now, for those who CRex converts to the dark side, be glad you are not getting into farrier work. Lindsey told me his farrier trailer cost him in the low five figures before he installed all his equipment and tools! Another friend of Warren?s, Roger Remund, aka Swiss Bianco, demonstrated the assembly of SAK?s. Swiss Bianco has a business relationship with Victorinox. Please refer to his website www.swissbianco.com for more information on his products and services. The final demo was by Warren on Nitre Bluing some Damascus. Below are photos taken during the day. Members L ? R: Bill Snow, Doug Adams and Henry Cambron. Farrier trailer in the background. Lindsey Helton and Bill Snow. Members L-R clockwise: John Costa, Marsha Brewer, CRex & Nola Costen. Wayne Hensley heading back from the shop. Display table.. still early. Sign in table, IITH table and a display table.. still early.. note the shadows. Still brisk too. Inside the shop: SAK demo; Roger Remund, identifiable faces L-R, Adam, Andy Roy, new guild member Dave Smith, and Mike Wilson. Big crowd. Inside the shop: SAK demo; foreground left David McNeal, right Dennis Bradley; background Craig Schneeberger and new member Grady Gentles. Inside the shop: SAK demo: Scott Davidson, Jim Collins, Adams Reese?s dad ? sorry, I forgot your name, Warren Glover in the background. Inside the shop: SAK demo being conducted by Roger Remund of Swiss Bianco: back of Dr. Joe?s head. More photos continued in next post. Last edited by RandyScott; 11-11-2011 at 12:33 PM. |

Photos continued:
Inside the shop: SAK demo: Harry Mathews representing Twin Blades. BTW, Charlie missed the meeting because he is a proud, brand new grandfather of his first grandchild and a grandson at that! Mom and child are doing well. Inside the shop: SAK demo: another view. Wayne Hensley, Nola Costen, Marsha Brewer, CRex and Don Tommey. Tables are starting to fill up. No text Lunch! It got real quiet for a while! Note the blue sky.. the photo really doesn?t capture the day! Another perspective. And another. And another. Ok here we go with the new members; only 5 are shown, the 6th was not available for the photo. L-R; Larry Martin, Liberty, SC; Dave Smith, Lilburn, GA ; Dan Eastland, Cumming, GA ; Dan Moye, Watkinsville, GA; Grady Gentles, Dallas, GA. Not shown: Dan Peters, Columbus, GA. By now Dan has arrived in Afghanistan. We wish him a safe and speedy return. IITH underway. Number callout task was handled by Hanna Roy. More photos in next post: |

3rd and final set of photos:
Selecting plunder during IITH. IITH another photo IITH another photo Lindsey won the John C Poythress Scholarship Raffle Knife. I tried to get a picture of Lindsey with the knife (a real nice little necker by TwinBlades in a Kydex sheath) but wasn?t able. Subsequently I learned it was operator error! Doug Adams provided the photo of Lindsey Helton with the Scholarship Knife. And now.. that?s all folks?. Last edited by RandyScott; 11-23-2011 at 03:52 PM. Reason: Added photo of Lindsey Helton with the Scholarship knife. |
