trying to decide between light or dark wood?
Well I have a file blade I am finishing for a friend and I am trying to decide what looks better light or dark wood.
the blade is not finished yet and I am starting on the rope filework on the spine. I have sanded out all the tool marks and looks amazing... this is my first blade that I have ever made... I have picked out these 2 woods but was thinking about a supper light wood like this: |

I'm a fan of the darker woods. Those are some nice burls! Where are they from?

Dark wood is MUCH easier to finish out and make look good. Lighter colored woods require a lot more care and time in finishing because they will "pick up" every little "black speck" and will drive you nuts.
