Thuya Burl
I have a really nice piece of Thuya burl that I want to use on hunter. Is thuya hard enough for slabs on its own? I don't have any way to stabalize it nor can I afford to send it out. The knife will have front bolsters only so the thuya would be exposed along the butt end of the knife as well. Thanks Steve |

Thuya Burl
I think that would be OK. It would have more support that way than it did on a stub tang kitchen knife I made and that worked fine... |

Its pretty tuff wood and its full of resin. Its one wood that doesn't take stabalizing well. A good coat of wax seems to work best for me. Did you know that Thuya burl is a root? Ray |
