Mother of Pearl
Besides knife supply houses are there any good sources of mother of pearl? I have never worked with it and wanted to try some on a folder. Thanks for your help. |

Rade Hawkins has some in the CKD supply area. Your best bet is a knife supplier, including Mother of Pearl Co. (Joe Culpepper)- they have material that is ground to the right dimensions for knife handles. The process is not a "do-it-yourself" one, unless you have lapidary equipment. |

If you want to practice, try oster or musal shells, It's hard to get ones big enough for handle slabs, but will let you chip or break something other than expensive slabs. If you are lucky, you can even find shells worth cutting for small folders. |

Email Reese Weiland. He has some MoP at some very nice prices. <a href="mailto:rwphil413@earthlink...thlink.net</a> Phone 813.671.0661 |
