Keeping square

I am currently using a drill press to cut my holes for stitching. I line up all the holes on the front of the sheeth but I cant keep them square when cutting them, they never look as nice on the back side of the sheeth. Is there another methed I can use to line up my holes better? Punch? Any advice here is appreciated.

Rick, I had the same problem when I first started making sheaths. I solved it (for me) by resting the side of the sheath being drilled on a 1/4" thick piece of wood or micarta. This seemed to square things up considerably, although I still have to keep my eye on the edge of the sheath to make sure it is staying perpendicular to the drill bit. I also place a piece of paper towel over the board and the drill press table to keep the sheath clean, and drill through both the towel and the board.

...and patience,patience. By the time we get to the stitching most of the work has already been done -- real shame to ruin a nice piece by rushing the last few steps.
