It's easier to build a forge, than a belt grinder, and less expensive, not to mention that it is more versitile, and does not require any electricity.

It is easier to cook lunch if I have a fire already started.

forge poetry
solidified in steel
each blow and heat is represented in the finished product

the bevels the guard and the handle are a reflection of the smiths eye

hope and energy, strength and craftsmanship are bestowed from the technique of the smith.

each blade a reflection of the thoughts and ideals of the smith.

ever notice how some smiths find their ideal and build that into the blade. the blades seem to have a sameness reflecting the same attributes.Maybe slightly different but the same theme running in each blade they create.

other smiths push the envelope and make each one different each one a different thought in steel.

I never cooked lunch on a grinder but I did burn a hole in my pants

The worst day forging is better than the best day painting. (House)sorry if any of your folks are painters, just painting isn't my thing.

Why Hello Tai, long time no see from here either. I just found this site, been on the top of it for a bit but never scrolled down this far.
Naw, I not crazy anymore. Got new meds. Rarely urinate in public anymore when I see mauve colored things. Life is good.
So, what you been doing?

This is a recent one. The blade is wootz. Ric Furrer made to wootz stock, then I forged it, Fittings are silver with a mokume ferrule. Handle is ironwood.

Jerry can you get some pics of your stuff up? If not, I'd be glad to post some for you, if you can e-mail them to me. I'd like to see what you've been making, and I'm sure the rest of the folks would too.

Really nice piece there bucko. I see you have not lost your touch in your old age. I like the forged intergals. They are simple yet elegant. Is the clip on that rascal chisel ground? I got into doing some of them lately. I sent you a pic as I do not know how to run this machine well. I have had the sucker for 2 months now and it keeps saying. "you got mail." The sucker is lying cause everytime I go out to the mail box to look their ain't no mail in there.
