There's not a whole lot of rules, as I think this one should be kept pretty simple. Essentially, those participating will make an arrowhead of any style of their choosing. The arrowhead should be functional (as opposed to a blunt arrowhead shaped object to be worn as a pendant or keyring). It should be made from a heat treatable alloy, or historical metal (like bronze), and not a pot metal such as a pewter alloy. No limits on size or shape...be creative! Look back through history...there are thousands of
arrowhead designs that people thought of and actually used, so feel free to be a little "off the wall". Arrowheads need to be completed no later than Sept 1st and placed in the mail no later than Sept 5th.

Most importantly....HAVE FUN!!!

ENTERING: To enter the KITH, simply email me at:

halter(nospam)@foxfirescientific.com
take out the (nospam)
I need your real name, handle on knifenetwork forums and mailing address.
Place "KITH Entry" in the subject line of the email so I can spot it easily.

All names I have recieved will be placed here and on the website. Names will be drawn Friday August 26th to see who mails theirs to who and posted here as well as on the website.

The website is at:

KITH - Knife in the hat

Basically if you decide to join in , you make whatever it is this time ( arrowhead).
The administrator of the KITH randomly picks who gets whose arrowhead and we all end up with someone elses.
There is a great thread if you do the search on the whole philosophy behind it but it comes down to we all do our best and understand that whoevers knife (or in this case arrowhead) you get did their best as well.
Hope that helps
Steve

Steve, helps alot--thanks. do you take into consideration (not condemnation), that what you get may well be only the third or fourth "forged" item ever made by the sender, and to them its the best they can do, today, (with miles of room for improvement)----but to some it may just be another piece of scrap metal. mike

Mike
If you do a search for KITH then find the thread from Dana Acker on thought for the Kith or Prizzim's thread on " not losing sight" both are good examples of the ought process behind the KITH. Both say it better than I ever could.
Steve

Mike,

Read the posts that Chris linked to.

This comes at a good time too. Have been drawing out arrowheads in meatings for the last couple of weeks, and this will force me off my butt and out to the shop to try a few of the ideas out. Anyone have any links they really like for inspiration? I'll start with a couple from my recent wanderings looking for Yanone (japanese arrowheads) inspiration.
