A QUESTION
I USE A MIXTURE OF WAX ,MINK OIL AND BEESWAX TO DIP MY SHEATH`S IN BUT HAVE A PROBLEM OF WAX MARKS ON MY BLADE`S . I HAVE NOT PRE HEATED MY SHEATHS BEFORE DIPPING INTO THE MIXTURE. COULD THIS HAVE A BEARING ON THE WAX MARKS I`M GETTING ? THANKS FOR ANY REPLYS , LARRY |

Larry,I have found that pre-heating the leather to 150-180 deg. F is an essential step in the process of getting the leather to absorb the wax. If you skip that step, you will get a drippy wax coating on the outside of the leather. This extends to the inside (pouch) of the sheath as well- with blobs that will come off on your knife blade. |
