Plunge Finishing Demo

I was asked to do a demo on how I finish my plunges. This demo idea kinda reminds me of the sharpening demo. There just isn't much to it, and I don't think I'm on very high a skill level in this area. I belt finish my plunges, and spend roughly 5 or 6 seconds per plunge. This is because of volume. I do have a trick, and I'll show that. I was hoping other folks who do the plunge differently to also show their method. Dennis Bradley and the twins both make beautiful perfectly formed and finished plunges. I'd like to see that. Will likes the sweeping plunge and maybe he can show us how he does that. If a few of us show our method on these small steps, I think it makes a much better demo.

Please let me know if you'd like to show your method.

Well, I've not heard back from anyone on this, and my plunge technique is very quick. So in order to make the demo a bit longer, I was considering fixing some common grinding mistakes, and showing how they occurred and how to avoid them. With that in mind, please bring a blade you've been having some trouble with. I'll see if I can tell the issue, how it happened and how to fix it. That might be a bit more fun to watch. I'll bring a few in from here, but it would be more fun to fix your suprises.

(Especially as I always shake like a leaf during demo's...)

Teddy, I too looked for a link! But I think he meant a demo in person at one of the Georgia Hammer-Ins. Makes sense. But would like to see a video demo now that it has been mentioned. How about that maybe Fiddleback? Thanks in advance!

Hi guys. There is no link to follow. What I am referring to above is a demo I am doing at the next GA Knifemakers Guild meeting. Mine likely won't be worth videotaping, but Dennis Bradley is going to do one as well. And James Mitchell is going to engrave a bolster. We will also have a demo of Adam Reese doing his clay tempering tricks. Those would be more video worthy IMO.

I literally shake so bad when doing a demo in front of this group that any video of my grinding might be just for commedy sake.
