A new sheath for my american style Bowie
Last week I made a sheath for this knife. A frontier style in two tone hand stitched leather with a holding system in leather strains with sterling silver fittings and a real ivory (sperm whale) lock piece.
Since I didn't really like how the mirror finish on the blade looked in contrast with it so I handrubbed it, leaving only the spine and upper bever mirror polished. I've also made some lightning like engravings on the ricasso area. Blade: 7" in 5160, satin handrubbed with spine and upper bever mirror polished. Full flat tang. Overall Length: 12" Handle: polished red deer stag slabs mimicking ivory with filed guard in nickel silver and ebony. The fittings on the lanyard are sterling silver. ![]() ![]() Thanks you for looking! I really like that Ruben, it has a nice rustic look to it. It goes quite well with the knife!

I like the sheath, but I REALLY like what you did with the blade. The lightning is pretty cool!
