after I antique the handle, I seal the end with clear drying epoxy, the 5 min type. thank you for your comments. steve: thank you for your kind words, All my work is traditional, and kept with the period. Well I do have a couple modern one's. thanks guys, I was starting to think no one liked period style knives anymore. don __________________ Native American Hand made traditional knives & hawks The Snakeman http://www.bearfootknives.com http://www.snakemanshuntingden.com |

Neat knife!!! I was particulary taken with the fact that you had to seach for a while to come up with a piece of antler that slim and shaped just right without a lot of grinding. Looks great!

There is alot of interest and alot of folks doing quality period work of all periods, look at Chuck Burrows work, high quality and exstremely traditional , using pine pitch and such. Shakudo is another member here making period peices in cartouge (sp?) knives. Not to mention the makers doing California bowies. From Scagle to Roman period makers there are plenty of makers and plenty of buyers of quality period peices, some do very very well in thier field of period making.

thank you for the kind words. I try to keep it the way my ancestors made them or were able to trade for. by making my knives and hawks the old way I can imagine the way they lived and were utilized, by my people. kinship honor and family with faith is the foundation of all peoples. don. __________________ Native American Hand made traditional knives & hawks The Snakeman http://www.bearfootknives.com http://www.snakemanshuntingden.com |
