Talking #37 YoNa Tsu Na Bowie

hey folks here is another of my traditional bowie knives.

overall dimensions is 14.5"
blade width is 1.50"
blade length is 8.5"
satin finish and brass guard with elk handle.
hand cut tehtons at rear of top starp of the blade
hope you like, all comments are welcome.don

Nice knife Don i like it. Do you seal the antler at the butt? If so what do you use.?

after I antique the handle, I seal the end with clear drying epoxy, the 5 min type.

Neat knife!!! I was particulary taken with the fact that you had to seach for a while to come up with a piece of antler that slim and shaped just right without a lot of grinding. Looks great!

There is alot of interest and alot of folks doing quality period work of all periods, look at Chuck Burrows work, high quality and exstremely traditional , using pine pitch and such. Shakudo is another member here making period peices in cartouge (sp?) knives. Not to mention the makers doing California bowies. From Scagle to Roman period makers there are plenty of makers and plenty of buyers of quality period peices, some do very very well in thier field of period making.

by making my knives and hawks the old way I can imagine the way they lived and were utilized, by my people.
