Case knives with no shield
Just bought an older Case 3318 that has no shield on it. No pocket where there would have been one and no rivet holes either. Anyone ever seen one or know if Case made any like this either intentional or by error?

I also have a vintage model 6345 Case (1920-1940 tang mark) without a shield. Just as jimu57 reported, this knife shows no indication of ever having had a shield. A little history for the knife: it is well worn since it was carried by my uncle in the 30's and 40's while he was in the army. Did Case ever provide a military issue knife that would have been built sans shield?
