Ruger Red Label....with midifications plus engraving!

Here is a Ruger Red Label I just finished. Red Label?s get some bad press for being hard to engrave?this one was fine. I did not blacken the background and left the cuts bright and only stippled the very deep cut background. The customer requested his signature in the trigger guard, in gold?Wa-La. Those of you that know Ruger?s Red Label will recognize the fact that I ground off the stiffeners or the raised bars that come down from the recoil lugs. I don?t like them and I believe by removing them it makes the Ruger look more streamlined and more like a traditional round action. I hope you agree. Thanks for looking.
Jim

I like it all Jim.
The streamline job looks great!
I might attempt that on my Red Label someday.

Tim

Hello Jim.
Great piece of work on the Ruger. Very nice.
Sure like the lumps taken off of the sides, good idea.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
John.

I appreciate the very nice comments. I hate to apologize for the photo but the only thing I can say is my client was on a mission when the picked the Ruger up....bird hunting the same afternoon.
I like other engravers would like to one day have the opportunity to cover one of these actions up. These shotguns are really condusive to any type of engraving...maybe one of these days.
Thanks again, and Happy Holidays....Merry Christmas!
Jim

Awesome Jim! Taking off the stiffeners did improve the looks of that Red Label, but nothing like the improvement your engraving made. Hope you can make it to the Georgia Guild meeting in Feb. It's going to be at Twin Blades shop. I sent you a pvt. message.

Good question Mike....It certainly leaves it open to future creativity. We actually did as much engraving as he could afford at this time. I worked on this project under the constraint of a budget. Working that way is certainly not a negative but with all that area most of us would just like to be turned loose....if you catch my drift?
Thanks for asking.........
Jim
