Smile Schrade re-handle part 2

I didn't want to get too many images in the other thread, and starting another one is easier than going back and modifying it.

OK,
After ruening the first try, I left it for a week or so. Here are some shots from what I did, and the finnished knife. It has what I wanted from this project; Morticed handle. useing the walnut he gave me, that his Dad had given him. A slight metal guard. I decided not to use the coper he had given me, when it corodes, and reacts it can be toxic, I didn't want that since the knife would be processing game. It has what he sugested; finger knotch grip, shortened grip ~3/4", and a slight metal guard.(if I wanted to, since he knows I hate doing slot fitted guards).

I'm verry happy with the wood fitting, I can't see where the seem is! I gun stock waxed it, so you can feel the wood but its water/blood proofed.

I'm waiting for leather to get here so I can do the new sheath......

I tried sharpening it too, that steel is hard!! I'll have to lightly put it too the grinder, to raise a bur to strop off. My carbide/ ceramic sharpener and my new slide sharp wouldn't do it.

Comments?

Gary
(let me know if I do have too many images here, and I'll reduce them to links.)

And the original for contrast;

I like that handle shape. Reminds me of the gunstock style.
