TRIZAC vs. micron film

I never tried micron film before and don't know much about them except that they can cut your fingers pretty bad.
How do they compared to TRIZAC of 900-2000 grid?

What do you guys think about NORTON NORZON vs. ZIRCONIA vs. 3M CERAMIC for coarse
grinding?

I am getting a KMG and want to get a set of good belts.

I use Klingspoor CS-411 belts (blue zirconia) and Norton R961 (ceramic) in 50 grit for my heavy grinding, and like them both very much. The difference is that the CS-411s have an "X" weight backing, whereas the R961s have a "Y" weight backing. Eventhough the 961s cut like mad, they are VERY stiff, and if used on a small radius wheel (1 1/2" or smaller) they tend to break the grit off quickly.....but they sure do cut well while they last.

3M micron belts give an unbelievable finish.....if you have a smooth enough platen (for flat grinding) otherwise you get a lot of streaks and "worm tracks" when using them. The statement you made about them cutting you is right on! I don't think I've ever put one on the grinder where it hasn't "bitten" me. I personally don't use them any more, just for that reason. I like the Norton Norax belts for everything 400 and finer. The backing is very flexible and soft, which seems to leave a finish much better than is usually expected for the specific grit size. The Norax belts are available from 400 through 2000 if I remember correctly. They are sized with X30 being 400 grit, X22 being 800 grit, X16 being 1200 grit, and so on.

I seldom every use 120, 220, or 320 on blades. I generally start with a 50 grit, taking the blade very close to finished, and then jump straight to an X30 Norax belt. It's easier to see the 50 grit scratches you might have missed with a 120 or 220 belt, and it cuts way down on my time at the grinder.
