Knife sharpener

I am admittedly not good at sharpening a knife and don't really like trying to get one sharp. I used to use a local gentleman that could put a razors edge on my knives quickly with an electric motor that pulled belts of varying coarseness over it. He has since retired. So what's a good electric sharpener for dummies? Quick and fool proof. Thanks in advance for your help
