Original Brown Micarta Thread (1959-65)

In recent light of photo hosting becoming a huge issue for some of the finest threads on the planet, I would like to initiate a fresh research link on the very scarce Brown Micarta from the early 60's. Similar to an owner registry if you will.

There has been some very exhaustive research on the topic by a well respected member of the Randall community already, so we do not have any need to re-hash that, just an informal "Head Count" of these knives. If you own one or know someone who does, please share it with us for their historical interest!

I will kick it off with a few pics of my original "Ward Gay" Special Skinner. These were the precursor to the Model 20 Yukon Skinner pattern of the present.

#3) Model 15 Plugged Bolt Hole

The third entry is a knife that I sold last year to one of my good collector friends from Italy.

Beautiful knife Steve. I was admiring it earlier on another site. I need to take some pics of my Model 14 and also of my Model 5. The pics that I have won't upload onto here.

Bill-

In the photos the handle of the model 5 looks like black micarta. Of note is the Angier model did not come out until after the use of brown was all but over. Even in Gaddis it is described as Bradford liked the NS hilt contrast with the black micarta. Bring it to Gator, would like to see it.
