Back ground information Randall Made model 12 6
Hallo forum members,
This is my first post in this forum. About seven years ago, i bought this knife on a auction. I i'am really curious about the history and background of my knife. I already find out that the handle is made from elephant ivory. Thank you |

Hi daan!
Welcome to the Knife Network! While it's not easy to draw a conclusion from one photo, I don't think the handle is ivory. The grain appears to be more like Westinghouse Micarta, which yellows with age and eventually was referred to as "Old Yeller Micarta. Try googling this and you'll find a wealth of information about this material. The knife itself (which is a beauty) is a Model No. 12-6". It is called a "Little Bear Bowie". Hope this helps. Cheers! Definitely NOT Ivory.
The actual model is a 12-6" Sportsman Bowie and coupled with a Sullivan's sheath, it is possibly "old yellow" Westinghouse micarta, but more likely to be AGM, antique gold micarta, unless the sheath has been replaced with a newer one. |

IMO Westinghouse paper Micarta. AKA "Ol' Yeller".

Bill is right! It's a "Sportsman's Bowie" which is also Model No. 12-6".
I didn't look at the blade when I posted. OUCH! Oh well... Here's a Sportsman's from my collection: And here's one of my Little Bears for comparison purposes: Cheers! David __________________ It takes less effort to smile than to frown ! |

That's a nice looking little bear you have David. Love those finger grips.
