Whale tooth scrim

Nice piece. It really captures the look like of an antique piece. The whole package works together as a whole. One thing I really like about this is that the leather work also looks old to match the knife. A lot of times you get a very nice old looking knife and then the maker will make an old style sheath out of brand new leather and it just doen't fit. You don't have that with this package. The leather itself has an old look to just like the rest of the package. Well done. Ray |

Yes they really captured the retro look. The only thing that gives it away is the mokume ferrel. Ever hear of the scrimshander?

Nope, That's not a name I recognize. Maybe some of the scrimmers on here might now something about them.

Did a search...
Probably a Native Alaskan Scrimmer. Nice native style, almost all searchs ended up at E-Bay...
The mokume was one clue, the other was the "Hard Ivory like polymer/micarta scabbard with nice age..." I would think that a real classic, from the 40's (or earlier) would have a matching whale tooth/walrus tusk sheath. Pretty knife/package though. |
