Child Training Knife
I'd like to get my son and daughter pocket knives so they can get used to using them safely. I'm looking for folding pocket knives that basically have a very very dull blade.
Anyone have any ideas? I've thought about buying a knife and grinding down the edge, but thought I'd start here first. Thanks |

Hi, you can buy trainers for certain knife models, but they'll probably be too big for your kids to carry around. The Gunting folders, for example, can be had in a dull, blunt tipped version. Outside of knives used for some sort of martial art training, it's going to be tough to find something commercially, I think. Dulling the blade and blunting the tip doesn't sound like a terrible idea, although I don't know what they'll get out of carrying a dull knife. I started carrying a pen knife when I was 8 or 9 years old, how old are they?

Age is the important question. I also started carrying my first knife at about 8 or 9
given to me by my dad. It was a smallschrade and not dull. Cut myself more than a few times but still here and with most of my fingers intact. If you think they are old enough and mature enough, get them a good knife and teach them how to use it as it was ment tobe, avery useful tool in everyday life. |
