Latest Medical news

Well, I'm still dealing with Doctors.....been going on for over 4 months now. The pain in my sides and abdomen have just been getting worse. I've had about every test they can think of. Last week a did a "barium swallow" test, and the results are still unclear. The Radiologist who read the test says that he saw what he thinks is a tumor in my stomach, but the Gastrogologist says that it's not. So, on Monday morning I will be going in for a "high resolution" CT scan of my abdomen. I think what's going on now is "re-testing" to try to find out what the Docs have missed. Hopefully this CT will shed some light on what's happening. If not, I suspect they will be doing another "scope" on me.

I've almost given up trying to work in the shop. I can go for about 20-30 mins, and get to hurting so badly, and get so tired that I have either sit or lay down. Just no fun at all. I've got so many projects I want to get going/done, but just don't have it in my right now. I seem to be living on Vicodin and anti-nausea meds......those are about the only things that are keeping me "upright".

Please keep us in your prayers, that they can find/fix whatever is going on with me....I just wanna get back to being myself again.

Ed, You know we are all pulling for you. Hopefully this round of scans will shed the light needed to put an end to this.

Prayers sent

Ed, as much as you give of yourself to us all here I think it goes without saying it's time for us to give it back.

Prayers sent (hug from me).

You've got every good vibe that I can send heading your way. Be patient and try not to let your mind run away with you.

Funny you mention that Doug....I've had that thought about a million times in the past month....wondering if letting my brain run away with me is the culprit. I've even asked the my Doc about that.....but I think even he is stumped right now.

Thanks for your support everyone.....it sure helps keep me going.

See, you should have got the extended warranty when you had the chance!

Sorry to hear you're still dealing with this, Ed. Keep your chin up, amigo. I think it was Collin Powell that said, "A positive attitude is a force multiplier."

Lke has been said, no amount of worry is going to change a thing, at least not for the better. You pray, we pray and leave it in the Lords hands. All things will be according to his plan.

This is a kicker..... I drank the "goop" as I was suppose to, went in for the CT scan at 8am......they started the scan, then stopped it, and told me that I have too much barium left in my system from the swallow test last week for the scan to be done. So, now the plan is to try to get myself cleaned out, then redo the CT scan on Friday morning at 8:15am........ Geez......another week of pain.
The good news is that I got clarification on the swallow test......the test was reviewed by a Gastrologist, who said there is NO tumor in my stomach. Hopefully we can get this scan done on Friday, and get me squared away.

Prayers sent from here too Ed. The waiting and "anxiety" over the tests can be as bad as anything.

But keep your head and they'll figure all this out.

Hang in there Buddy.

John

Well, it looks like we're right back where we started from. I had the CT scan on my abdomen this morning, then went to a Doc appt. with a General Surgeon/internal medicine Doctor. He was as ill prepared for my appt. as any Doctor I have ever seen. He did not know that I had a CT scan this morning, and all he did was look at past test results. I finally said "Hey, I just got done with a CT scan, what did that show?" He had no idea that that I had even had the scan!

Cindy and I sat in an exam room for 1 1/2 hours waiting while he went around gathering "information". When he finally came back with the CT results, he said "The Radiologist said that the only thing that showed up on the CT is a possible thickening of the colon wall......OR it could have just been a spasm that happened as the scan was being taken." All he did was look at other Doctors' test results, and based everything on those.

5 months of chasing whatever this is, and no closer to a solution than when it all started, Mean while I'm the one who is in so much pain that I cannot live my day to day life, can't work in my shop, nor even be the husband and dad that I should be.

I called my regular Doctor's office and spoke to the head nurse. I bluntly asked if there was any way that they could send me outside this circle of local Doctors....to someplace larger like Spokane, WA. All I see is this local group of Doctors "feeding off each other", and none of them is willing to step on the others' toes. This Doctor today had no plan of action, and only kept saying that he would have to consult with the other Doctors who have done the tests on me. I'm just about at my end.....another weekend of being in pain, and nothing that can be done until Tuesday.
Sorry for unloading like that gang, but I hurt so badly, and am so frustrated right now that I just don't know what to do.
