Kious/Warenski • Yin-Yang
Well! There is a place in this world for every type of knife imaginable. Let's go where few folks will EVER have the chance to appreciate something quite as ornate and exquisite...
Julie Warenski sent this to me for my handiwork. It's a commission knife for a client, who specified white diamonds, black diamonds, rubies, platinum and a full-gold frame (we don't know the karat). It's a hidden button auto/lockback and weighs over half a pound. Julie did not only all the fine engraving, but ALSO set all the stones. She must have worked late... Check out these two side shots and click on the thumbnail for a large resolution image of the details. (look at that hidden button!) Thank you Julie, and congrats to Joe Kious and the proud new owner! Coop |

Coop-
How do you do it?!?! This must be like pure heroin passing through the hands of an addict, and he's not allowed to keep any for himself!!! (Analogy might be a bit heavy-handed, but then you are a knife addict, yes?). Unbeliveable piece. Two incomparable artists come together on one amazing piece. The layout is breathtaking... I love the black against the gold...especially the carved black material...Any idea what that is...ebony perhaps? Thanks for sharing this treasure. Dennis Greenbaum Yeah Baby! |

I am not a big fan of the Yin Yang symbol. That particular symbol is way too shop worn to me.
however, this is one of the nicest things I have seen from Julie. Very well executed. Like Dennis, I really like the addition of the black material on the gold field. The contrast between the carving and the engraving is super too. My hats off to ya Julie. Job well done. Ray Last edited by Ray Cover Jr; 08-20-2004 at 05:43 PM. |

Another absolutely beautifully engraving by Julie. This is a stunning piece, I also love what she did with the black carved overlays. The only thing that turns me off about this knife is that the Pave stone setting is not executed to the same level of expertise as the engraving that has been done.
Everything else is wonderful !! Darren __________________ DarrenP.Reeves Custom Hand Engraving Billings, Montana 1-406-245-3444 Knife in Avatar Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today. |

Hey guys, thanks for the comments.
Dennis, you got me pegged. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it..! I have no idea what material was used for the black sculpted overlay. It would appear to be organic, but it wasn't wood. What careful work. Julie did the myriad of stone settings herself. I find it fascinating upon VERY close inspection to see the four-five punch marks that capture each stone. It adds to the jeweling effect even more so. Darren, what are 'Pave' stones? If you look closely in the detail photos (not the web photo), you can see the platinum band on the gold that is inlayed around the front of the bolster area. This is a piece that wil be hanging around in, say, a THOUSAND years or so...! Wow. Coop |

What a beautiful work of art. Better yet, what an exquisite piece of jewelry. What ever you want to call it its gorges.

Boy, It's hard to top that one for the "fully dressed out" award.. Some of these knifes just leave me speechless, wondering how much farther people can take it. For me, there comes a point where I have a hard time taking it all in on one piece like this. That's not a critique of this particular knife by the way..The work done on this was extensive, and done by two people who are totally on top of thier game..Coop presented the knife with class..

Awesome
I've always been amazed at Joe Kious' work, & I've always been amazed at Julie Warenski's work as well and when the two of them work on the same piece, what can you say? This piece is truely awesome. God has truely blessed both of these people with an abundance of talent. Thanks for sharing! Dwayne
