Shop Fire

Most of you know A.C. 'Tony' Metsala, the fine knifemaker that lives in Zimmerman, MN. Tony is a full time maker, and one of the nicest knifemakers I've ever met. For your information, I've sold many of his folders and sheath knives.

I emailed him today to let him know that I had sold one of his fine Damascus blade blanks. A little later, I received this disturbing email from Tony.

You can view what's left of his shop here http://customknives.com/TonysFire.htm.
If you have the time, please email him and give him some support, and please keep him and his family in your prayers.
His email is acmetsala@izoom.net.

Thanks,

A.T.

I've emailed Tony a few times and he is ALWAYS very generous and has given me information several times on items he carries in his eBay store. He loves his family and God and I'm sure that will help him through this very difficult time. Tony is a true gentleman and I hate to hear such bad news about him. It's good to hear his family is safe and I'm sure that is his primary concern. Such a terrible tradegy, thanks for letting us know. He and his family will be in our prayers.

Did he tell you what caused the fire? That is something that I am afraid could happen to me. I need to get a couple of fire extinguishers for the shop.

Very sad indeed.I hope he rebuils quickly.Seems a lot fires occur in shops.I built mine to be fire resistant. All metal tables, all walls covered with welding blankets,24oz white fiberglass, good for 1500 degees.Nothing in my shop is flammable. After Rays shop burned I looked at mine and saw how easily it could happen so I did all I could to reduce the chances. The fire blankets cost me 600 for a 150x6 foot roll.A wise investment,so I think.
