European market?

I've been asked to describe the european market for custom knives for a project in Brazil and, though I do have some experience and contacts, I felt I should ask for the esxperience of other makers and dealers on the subject.

How do you think it difers from the US market?

Any hots and colds? Like favored styles and materials?

I will share my points of view along the thread as it goes...

Thanks a lot.

Speaking only for myself as an American maker, the European market is, naturally, the much smaller portion of my business. Aside from being small, I don't find it much different. International payment is occasionally a logistical problem but mostly they use Paypal and so it looks the same to me.

I don't really find hots and colds. Occasionally, I'll get a request for a knife in an indigenous style but mostly they buy what I usually make. I would say they are more likely to want a damascus blade than my American audience (percentage wise, anyway).
Also, I sell mostly bowie style knives in the UK and folders almost everywhere else ......

That is something I have noticed... nordic contries and Germany are specialy found of stainless tactical folders and balisongs. In germany they like wiked agressive shapes or high tech designs.
