Info on Knife Needed

A friend of mine has approached me asking for information on a brand of knife named Bear & Son Cutlery. He found some of their pocket knifes including a Damascus pocket knife on sale and was wondering about their quality. I have never seen one of their knives and thought I was ask some of you more knowledgeable folks about them. They have a Trapper model with Damascus blades for 120 dollars that he was interested in. This is a close out sale. Any information on this knife company would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Wade,

Bear and Son Cutlery (http://www.bearandsoncutlery.com/) is located in Jacksonville, Alabama. It is just about 12 miles up the road from me.

They offer lots of different styles, including damascus. As a side note...... their damascus is also made in Jacksonville by Brad Vice. Brad makes and sells damascus all over the place under the name of "Alabama Damascus".

Bear makes some pretty good stuff, but the fit and finish is nothing to jump up and down about.

Hope this helps............ Robert

Thanks. I had no idea that there was even a knife company in Alabama. So I gather from your comments that they are kind of a middle of the road quality knife or am I mistaken.

It looks like the Damascus trapper you mentioned has a retail price of $129.95. A "close out" price of $120 doesn't sound like much of a deal to me.

I have one of Bear's small fixed blades. The fit and finish are okay, but nothing spectacular. It is quite sharp, however.
